E-Bay Auction Event to Raise Funds for RNLIRoyal Lifeboat Institution to Hold Fund Raising On-line Sale
Want to bid for an exiting VIP Visit and other Great Lots? The RNLI needs help on 24-29thth January 2009 on their e-bay fund raiser. Help the Lifeboat Crews and have fun.
The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) is to hold an eBay auction from this Saturday 24 January to 30th January 2009 with all the money raised going towards its lifeboat crew welfare. RNLI is a 100% charitably funded organization and all of the people who regularly risk their lives to save sailors and holiday makers who get in distress at sea, are unpaid volunteers. SOS Day Auction on E-bayAs part of their SOS Fund Raising Day, the RNLI are holding a charity auction through e-bay where anyone can bid for the lots that have been donated. There are some great items up for auction and so this is a wonderful way to combine all the fun of bidding for some very desirable items, with the knowledge that your cash will be used to help save lives. Things You Can Bid ForThe list of biddable items includes a radio-controlled model of a powerboat that won the 2007 P1 power boating world championships (see photograph below) which was donated by shaver manufacturer King of Shaves. This fully-working replica can get up to 35 mph, is approximately 5ft long and worth £800. VIP Visits up for GrabsAlso on auction are some exciting VIP visits to many East Anglian lifeboat stations, including a guided tour of a lifeboat station for a party of up to four people. Winners will have the opportunity to learn all about the station, how it operates and the traditions of the lifeboat service, plus a tour around the lifeboat and its equipment. Autographed BookAdditionally a copy of the "Three Men in a Boat" book by Jerome K. Jerome and signed by Griff Rhys-Jones, Rory McGrath and Dara O'Briain, two SOS t-shirts signed by Ipswich Town footballers, plus two Danbury Mint bears - "Tom in a hurry" and "Simon reaches out", both in immaculate condition, boxed. There are many other desirable items being auctioned. RNLI Regional Event Manager Rachel Clarke said: 'This is a great opportunity to show your support for the RNLI and gain some really original auction items. All money raised goes towards supporting our lifeboat crews who go out in all weathers to save lives at sea.' Some Facts About the RNLIThe RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.The RNLI operates over 230 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and has more than 100 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service.
